Hello and welcome! My name is Greg Allen. I teach General Chemistry I and Senior Chemistry II at Russell County High School. I have been an educator in the secondary schools for 26 years. For 5 years (1992-1997), I taught at Uintah High School in Vernal, Utah. From 1997-1999, I taught at Anson County Middle School in Wadesboro, North Carolina. I began teaching at Russell County high School in 1999.  I love the teaching profession!  I am looking forward to sharing my love for chemistry to juniors and seniors at RCHS.

General Chemistry I is recommended for juniors at RCHS that are planning on pursuing an education after high school. General Chemistry I is taught as a college preparatory course. Some of the topics in General Chemistry I include Laboratory Safety and Measurements, Matter, Atomic Structure, Mole Calculations, The Periodic Table, Bonding, Writing and Naming Chemical Formulas, Chemical Reactions, and Stoichiometry.

Senior Chemistry II is offered to seniors that have accomplished an A or B in General Chemistry I. This course is a fast paced course with an emphasis on laboratory investigations to determine an unknown. A more in depth study of ALL the topics in General Chemistry are presented as well as topics in The Gas Laws, Organic Chemistry, etc. Students are expected to read the college level textbook and laboratory manual. Writing a formal laboratory report is a requirement of Senior Chemistry II.
