I was born in Louisville, KY on July 13th, 1980. Raised in southcentral Louisville for over 20 years, I left the urban landscape for the rural, rolling hills of Russell Springs, KY in February 2001. The motive for the move can be explained in three words: Laura Ashley Egnew.

After working over 15 jobs from age 14 through 21, I decided to attend college three years after graduating from Pleasure Ridge Park/Jefferson County High School. I enrolled at Western Kentucky University in the Spring semester of 2001 and graduated in December of 2003 with a Bachelor of Science in Middle Grades Education, with an emphasis in Social Studies and Language Arts.

I also received two Master of Arts in Education degrees in Secondary School Counseling from Western Kentucky from 2003-2007. I was enrolled at Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, KY as a Master of Divinity student and future Ph.D. candidate in Biblical/Theological Studies from 2007-2009, but left after the birth of my son, Connor. I am contemplating a return to school, but I don't know if I want to finish what I started at Asbury or to take a different direction.

I am about to enter my 13th year as a teacher at Russell County Middle School (RCMS). During my time at RCMS, I have had the privilege of teaching both 7th and 8th grades. I taught Ancient World History and Geography for five years, On-Demand Writing for one, and U.S. History and Geography for one as well. This year marks my sixth as an 8th grade ELA teacher with Mrs. Jennifer Hardwick, Mrs. Lisa Coffey, and Mrs. Mollie Quinn.

My wife, Laura, is a guidance counselor at Russell County High School and also happens to be my best friend. On September 28th, 2009, she gave birth to our firstborn son, Connor Alexander Davidson, who just so happens to be the second-best boy ever born, behind only Jesus. A few years later, we welcomed our daughter, London Elise Davidson, into the world on February 20th, 2013, exactly 13 years to the day that Laura and I first met. We live on Gosser Ridge in the NE portion of Russell County, also known as God's Country.

Random tidbits: Once a week, I work at WJRS to record ads for local businesses. Therefore, if you are listening to 104.9 FM or 1060 AM, you may just hear a familiar voice doing the commercials. This year also marks my 11th year as the head of the RCMS Y-Club, along with Mrs. Joy Shearer. I attend the Russell Springs United Methodist Church and I play bass guitar for the praise band. I occasionally serve as an assistant spiritual director for the Lake Cumberland Area Chrysalis flights at the Mountain View Baptist Camp and the Lake Cumberland Residents Encounter Christ program at federal prisons. I love playing recreational sports like basketball and baseball, but since I am getting older, I am becoming more acquainted with sports like golf, ping pong, and cornhole.

I'm in a little band called Boss Tweed with a few of my friends and it's one of my favorite things to occupy my time with. As a matter of fact, I am a non-recovering musicaholic.

I also enjoy art in other forms, namely literature and film. My favorite movie of all-time is Back to the Future, but my top five flicks from the past decade are (in no certain order): Once, Slumdog Millionaire, Babel, Boyhood, and The Tree of Life. My favorite authors are Matthew Quick, Kurt Vonnegut, Jesse Stuart, Dan Brown, Leonard Sweet, John Green, Donald Miller, Rob Bell, and William Faulkner.

Television is addictive and I am lured into such from time to time. My favorite shows of all-time are LOST, Fringe, Seinfeld, Breaking Bad, Parks and Recreation, Community, and The Office. I currently waste time watching The Walking Dead, House of Cards, Mr. Robot, and Outlander.

I love the Chicago Cubs, the Cincinnati Bengals, and the University of Kentucky Wildcats to an almost unhealthy level. For real.

My admiration for coffee is well-noted throughout the school, and it's possible that students will see my Chemex in use at least twice a week.
