CHEERLEADERS RETURN FROM FLORIDA COMPETITION
UCA Cheerleading
by LeeAnn Grider, WLKR News

This past week the Russell County High School Cheerleading squads packed up their pom-poms and headed to Disney World in Orlando, Florida to the compete in the UCA National Cheerleading competition. These 5 days were spent enjoying all the amusement parks and soaking up the beautiful Florida rays, but the main focus for the Lakers was a national title and the elusive “white jacket”.

Head coach, Teresa Ellis, took two teams: Varsity Small Co-Ed and Junior Varsity Large Co-Ed. Out of 500 squads and over 10,000 cheerleaders, the Russell County High School teams proved to have a unprecedented amount of pep in their step. Both teams made finals with the Small Co-Ed placing 10th in the nation and the Large Co-Ed placing 4th. Congratulations to the cheerleaders for their great accomplishments and above all, making RCHS proud.
