NTI Day 1- Arts and Humanities

Step 1: Go to the Art Institute of Chicago webpage here: http://www.artic.edu/aic/education/CC/ 

Step 2: Click on the “play with art” button 

Step 3: Click on the “mask maker” button (center button with the face of an animal) 

Step 4: Read about masks around the world and hit the “next” button 

Step 5: Read about the Mukenga mask that is worn at funerals in Africa.  Roll over the parts of the mask to discover which different parts represent different animals. 

Step 6: Answer this question in a word document and save to your computer:  If you made a mask that could transform you, which animal would you choose? 

Step 7: Hit the “let’s try it” button.  Select 5 animals and hit the “make your mask” button. 

Step 8: Print your mask if possible or screen shot it (CTRL + PrintScreen) and email it and the question If you made a mask that could transform you, which animal would you choose? to your teacher.
